08 Aug What are your Puffy Eyes and Dark Circles Like?
Did you know the first area of the face that shows any signs of aging is the skin around the eyes? The under eye area is very sensitive and the skin that surrounds it is 10 times thinner then any other region on your body. Both eastern & western medicine, coincide on one theme; together they associate diseased status of the digestive health to the appearance of the dark circles and puffiness under the eyes.
How Does It Happen? Whether hereditary or health related, puffiness and bags under the eyes are triggered by a deceleration of blood as well as a disturbance within the lymph’s. Your lymph nodes work as filters to keep toxic substances away from your body. They have these badass immune cells that fight off and kick the shit out of infections and germs that are carried through lymph fluid substances. Isn’t the human body just incredible?
You maybe thinking what the hell is he talking about, right now your lymph nodes are attacking and beating the crap out of all the germs that are around you. So how about a shout out or some gratitude towards your lymph’s.
Here are 4 remedies and tips which can help keep the puffiness down around your globular organs:
Cucumbers – Cucumbers contain an anti-inflammatory and mild skin lightning effect that helps reduce puffiness allowing your skin to glow. The caffeic acid reduces water retention which helps to reduce swelling around the eyes. Take a cold cucumber from the refrigerator and cut two thick slices. Find a place to chill and set the cucumbers over your closed eyes for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Use an Ice Mask – Apply a soothing cool eye mask, which covers the area around the eyes helping to alleviate puffiness around and underneath the skin. Pull it out of the fridge; leave it on for at least 20 minutes until the coolness has dwindled.
Tea Bags – My favorite eye treatment Mugshot contains caffeine, an ingredient that helps shrink the blood vessels while aiding in circulation of blood around the skin of eye. Put two tea bags in hot water for 5 minutes. Then take the tea bags out, put them on a plate and leave them in the fridge for about 20 minutes. Grab the teabags and squeeze out the liquid. Lay down and put the tea bags over your eyes for 20 minutes, helping to reduce puffiness and dark circles. I’d recommend using a white tea since it contains the highest levels of antioxidants.
Avoid Salt and Alcohol – Being a man, a diet in less salt and alcohol will help reduce your waist line, keep your hair healthy as well as helping to reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles. So take a break from pizza, potato chips, chicken wings, beer and those stupid tacos that feel like cement in your stomach. Eat food enriched in vitamins like carrots, oranges, kiwi, strawberry and apples. Drink water to keep your skin hydrated, alcohol creates the opposite effect, it dehydrates you, dries you out and bloats your ass.
